As the Founder of Band Venture Partners, Mike is responsible for all aspects of the corporate venture manager, which aims to create and sustain shared prosperity through transformational corporate venture investments. Mike also serves as a fourth-generation co-owner and director of Coril Holdings, a director of Loram Maintenance of Way, and a director of Endeavor Canada.
In his various roles, Mike is uniquely positioned to help guide each organization’s alignment of purpose, strategy, culture and systems. He is particularly interested in cultivating customer-focused innovation capabilities and capitalizing on the resulting customer-supplier value creation opportunities. This is what led Mike to become an active Angel Investor and venture manager, where he saw an opportunity to align founders, corporate customers, and capital, while helping build capacity within a strategic industry for Canada.
Prior to his current role, Mike was an Executive Vice President, Portfolio Management, with Triovest Inc., where he was focused on diversifying the company’s owned portfolio into situational and long-term co-investments with high net worth and institutional partners. He has also held various roles in the corporate finance division of a diversified Canadian utility and as an oil and gas private equity investment manager in Calgary, Alberta. Mike holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, an Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D) designation, and completed a bachelor’s degree (BACS) from the University of Western Ontario.
